Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is the AI analysis?
Speakeazy achieves exceptional accuracy in character identification and dialogue attribution. Complex manuscripts with unusual formatting (often found in very old, or very avant-garde literature) may require some manual corrections, but you’ll still save hours compared to marking up scripts by hand. The AI flags uncertain attributions so you can quickly review and correct them.
Can I try Pro features before committing?
Yes. Start a 14-day free trial of Pro and use every Pro feature on real projects. We collect a card when you sign up, and at the end of the 14 days the subscription begins automatically at $9/month or $72/year depending on the billing period you chose, renewing at that price until you cancel. Cancel any time before the trial ends and you are not charged — it takes two clicks in Settings → Subscription. Analyses are charged separately, and always show you the price before you confirm.
What file formats does Speakeazy support?
Speakeazy works with .TXT and .PDF files—the formats most commonly used for manuscripts and scripts. Simply upload your file and the AI begins analysis immediately.
How long does analysis take?
Analysis time depends on your manuscript’s length. A short story takes just minutes, and a novel like The Great Gatsby (about 270K characters) completes in roughly 20-25 minutes. Even the longest books—like Les Misérables at over 3 million characters—finish in a few hours. The best part? It’s entirely set-it-and-forget-it. Start an analysis and go about your day—you don’t even need to keep your computer on.
Can I see the cost before I start an analysis?
Yes! Before running any analysis, Speakeazy shows you an estimated cost and time based on your manuscript’s length. You’ll see exactly what you’ll be charged before confirming.
Is my content secure?
Your manuscripts remain your property, and we never sell them or use them to train AI models. Files are encrypted in transit, and encrypted at rest by our database and storage providers. To run an analysis, your manuscript text is processed by Anthropic's Claude API, whose commercial terms expressly prohibit training on customer content, and by the compute infrastructure that runs the analysis, which is bound by confidentiality obligations. That is the only purpose it is ever shared for, and our Subprocessors page lists every provider involved, what each receives, and where it is located.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, no contracts or commitments. Cancel your subscription anytime from your account settings. You’ll retain access until the end of your billing period.
I’m a full-time narrator—is Pro really worth it?
Pro analysis can pay for itself on your first project. At $9/month (or $72/year) plus analysis costs, you need to save less than 60 minutes per project to break even (assuming standard narration rates). We estimate Speakeazy can save 10-20+ hours per project on script prep alone.
